On 03-19-2023, Wagoner County Deputies were dispatched to the 27200 Block of East 86th Street in Broken Arrow in reference to a structure fire.  Once deputies arrived on scene, they were advised by the Broken Arrow Fire Department that there was an individual inside the home that was deceased.

With assistance from the Oklahoma State Fire Marshall Office, it was determined that there was not sufficient evidence to charge any specific person with a crime.  The case was assigned to the Wagoner County Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.

On 04-05-2024, Wagoner County Investigators received a call from Joshua Headrick.  Mr. Headrick advised investigators that he was responsible for the fire as well as the death of his grandfather, that was caused as a result of the fire that he had started.

Wagoner County Investigators met with Joshua for a formal interview, and it was determined that there was enough probable cause to arrest Joshua on the charges of First-Degree Murder and First Degree Arson.  Joshua was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wagoner County Detention Center and booked into same.  He is currently being held with no bond.
